annual report (now also on CD-ROM) summarizes crime data from state and local law
enforcement agencies. Provides detailed statistics on crime incidents, rates, etc.

Crime Statistics Pamphlet published by the FBI on
those crimes committed out of a "preformed negative bias against a group of persons
based solely on their race, religion, ethnic origin or sexual orientation" or
disability (from the Forward). Data include geographic location (cities, rural counties,
universities, etc.) and the race of the offender.
Human Development
Report Annual report from the UN Development
Program. Reports on the progress and problems of developing nations in their struggle for
sustainable development. Provides economic and social characteristics for both developing
and industrialized countries. Data includes categories such as the status of women,
demographic profile, profile of human development, and wealth, poverty and social
investment.
World
Military Expenditures and Arms Transfers Annual
report of the U.S. Arms Control and Disarmament Agency. Provides data and country rankings
on worldwide purchases, exports, imports, and transfers of military hardware, country by
country. Besides dollar figures for 172 countries, the report also includes military
blocks, such as the Commonwealth of Independent States (i.e. Russia and her allies), NATO,
OPEC, the ex-Warsaw Pact, etc.

Resources (World Resources Institute) Annual
report, also available as a data file in spreadsheet format. Covers a large variety of
issues concerned with global demographics, development, economics, environment, and
